Exploring how different interlocking patterns diffuse light. I was after a calming light that could serve as a mood light. A type of light to compliment any reading space.
Prototyping was a crucial part of this project. It allowed me test different interlocking patterns, as well as, tolerances for each piece. It also served as an easy way to test the assembly process to make it easy for anyone to build.
The word "VINKA" comes from the Swedish word for "WAVE." I drew inspiration from Scandinavian design for its simplicity and functional aesthetic. The parametric design looks like a living sphere that is constantly moving; similar to that of waves in the ocean.
