Alumni Scarf Collection

The Harn Museum of Art is a dynamic leader among public university art museums. Through collaboration with University of Florida faculty and students, local partners and the international art community, the Harn provides relevant and engaging art-centered programming that reflects world cultures, human history and current events. The museum brings the joy of experiencing great works of art to diverse university, community, national and global audiences through relevant and enlightening art collections, exhibitions and learning opportunities. During my internship in the Harn Museum of Art, I was challenged with creating an exclusive product line to be sold to alumni. After a few weeks of collecting data and talking with visitors and museum staff, I set out to create a product to be worn with pride.
The scarves are 100% organic silk. I chose this material because I wanted it to be comfortable and for the colors to pop. It had to be something that could be worn in multiple settings, either it being inside or outside; and of corse, the color palette had to be the university colors of Blue and Orange!
Role: Market Research , Industrial Design , Sourcing & Product Visualization

Research conducted over a period of 1 month that analyzed who visited the museum. This allowed me to narrow my target audience to later be able to produce a product that could be sold.

Drawing inspiration from Gainesville and the local scenery. The aim was to explore the campus and identify the most iconic images. Line work for this project was crucial for having interesting texture and fidelity.
I was very conscious during the design phase as to how women wear and tie the scarves. I wanted to make sure the images on them were interesting no matter the style. The colors had to pop and silk was the best material for that.
The Century Tower stands proudly at the heart of the university. Any student, old or new, can easily look up and hear it wonderful song every hour.
