Lego Series
Even now and then I struggle with burning out creatively or struggle to finish a backlog of projects. I needed a way to help me get out of a slump and get the juices flowing! I needed something that didn't feel like a chore and something that I could enjoy doing to get me back in the mood to think creativity. Like many designers, Lego scratched that fun and creative part of brain and allowed me to create without limits or any set rules.
One day, I was out shopping and saw a sale for a little mini set. I bought it on a whim and built that set when I got home. Something in me sparked! "Hey! Why don't I 3D model these?" It later spiraled into an obsession with modeling each individual piece, creating custom parameters to make the process more streamlined, learned tolerancing and assemblies to build them, and then render them out to look stylized. It became an easy way to get turn off the creative side of the brain and get back into a rhythm when in between design projects! :)
